The 5th Annual International Kazakhstan Growth Forum was held 15-17 June 2010 in the Renaissance Chancery Court Hotel, London, UK
The highlights of the Forum included presentations from key Government decision-makers and leading economists and investors and related to the Kazakhstan's role in international energy projects: key developments in Kazakhstan energy sector, including showcases of upstream projects and oil & gas transit routes and current plans for the nuclear energy development project update from the giant KASHAGAN oilfield.
The Forum outlined focusing on business development and practical issues, including: creating value-added products and services, transportation and infrastructure, tackling technological challenges and delivering on the local content. In particular, opportunities in the petrochemical and chemical sectors were announced as those included in the Kazakh Government priority list.
Top representatives of the Kazakh FSA on the latest changes to the way regulators will control and supervise the banking and financial sectors and how these new measures will impact upon banks' future strategies, extended focus on the future for Kazakh companies. There was also a discussion on accessing funding through domestic instruments and attracting private equity and portfolio investors' capital and latest updates on the investment climate along with the governmental strategies to drive economic development.
