Samir has broad prior experience in corporate, commercial, insurance, licensing matters, resolution of disputes and in dealing with State officials and bodies, and national companies. Samir has an LLM in International Law (with Honours) from the Baku State University, as well as an Insurance Foundation Certificate from the Chartered Insurance Institute, London, UK.
Some of the recent projects in Azerbaijan, in which Samir has been involved include advising Сredit Suisse as to cross-border banking and financial services; advising a leading international oil & gas company as to their employee share schemes; advising MarketAxess Europe Ltd in collaboration with Messrs. Linklaters as to the provision of their multilateral trading facility platform; and advising various investors on establishing their businesses in Azerbaijan and on importing and exporting, as well as on a wide variety of intellectual property matters.
