On 14 June 2010 Kazakhstan adopted a Constitutional Law introducing “Leader of the Nation” status for President Nursultan Nazarbayev
A number of amendments will be introduced accordingly into the relevant laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, i.e. Criminal Code, Law on Protective Service of President, Law on State Awards, Law on State Prize of World and Progress of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Law on Assembly of Nations of Kazakhstan.
The status of the leader of the nation provides Nazarbayev (and his family members residing with him) with immunity from all sorts of prosecution, including all sorts of property and assets even to the extent of after his leaving the office.
